What is the Temporary Graduate Visa, and what advantages does it have in Australia?

The Temporary Graduate Visa (subclass 485) is a work visa for international students who have completed their studies in Australia and want to continue their experience in the country.

This visa allows them to live, study, and work in Australia for a minimum of 18 months and up to a maximum of 4 years depending on the studies completed. Additionally, during the duration of your visa, you can enter and leave Australia as many times as you want.

It is a good option to extend your stay in Australia and improve your chances of being eligible for a permanent visa in the future. Furthermore, the visa allows you to work full-time for a minimum of 18 months, significantly increasing your chances of finding a sponsor and applying for the Sponsor Visa.

The main advantage offered by the Temporary Graduate Visa is the opportunity to start a career in Australia, get to know companies from the inside, and gain experience. Additionally, this visa allows you to add a family member to work in Australia without any time limitations.

Currently, there are four types of Temporary Graduate Visa (485) that you can apply for based on the type of studies you have undertaken in Australia. These are:

    • Graduate Work Stream.
    • Post-Study Work Stream.
    • Second Post-Study Work Stream.
    • Replacement Stream.

Later on, we’ll tell you everything you need to know about each type of Temporary Graduate Visa. For now, let’s look at the general requirements you’ll need to meet to access any of them. Let’s continue!
