How to find a doctor?
Access to healthcare in Australia may be different to other countries. Here are some tips so that you can ask for the right help depending on the situation.
Medical emergency
- Dial triple zero (000) on your phone or go to the emergency department of the nearest public hospital.
Non-life threatening condition
- Visit your GP. You can use the online “Find a Doctor” tool to locate the nearest general practitioner. Simply enter your visa type and post code to identify the closest direct billing provider. A direct billing provider bills Allianz Care Australia directly for your benefit amount meaning you won’t need to make a claim and will only need to pay a gap fee should it apply.
- Use Allianz Care Telehealth Services – powered by Doctors On Demand to speak with a qualified doctor. This service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, both by phone and video call.
For more information, see the Telehealth Terms and Conditions.
How to claim your health coverage for students abroad?
Direct billing medical network
The easiest way to manage your claims is to choose a direct billing medical provider. This way, your claim will automatically be sent to Allianz Care Australia, and they will pay the medical provider directly.for the benefit amount covered under your policy. If the provider charges more than the MBS fee, you will need to pay this to the medical provider.
Non-direct billing medical network
If you receive medical care at a clinic or medical facility that is outside the Allianz Care direct billing medical network, you can pay the bill to the medical provider and then submit a claim to Allianz Care Australia to
be reimbursed for your covered benefit amount.
